Golf fitness programs are quite different then "general- fitness or" weight training- programs. A golf fitness program can develop physical parameters within your body, and a great time of year to achieve this task is the off-season. It's important to understand here that not only does a golf fitness program enhance their games, but these golfers with a workout program have effectively been able to injury proof their bodies by building up the supporting muscles and tendons that are subjected to the most stress in the golf swing. A proper golf fitness program can make an incredible difference in not only your game, but your life as well
Exercise
Exercises for golfers may seem like an oxymoron, but I'm here to tell they are most definitely not. Exercise specific to golf is totally different than general exercise in a gym. Exercise programs can be done in less than 30 minutes with very little equipment. There are great programs that incorporate both aerobic and anaerobic systems at the same time. There are exercises and stretches that were developed in the Pilates method specific to the biomechanics of the golf game. Medicine ball training covers exercises to develop core strength & total body power. Press clippings from Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, and Phil Mickelson all refer to golf fitness exercises being a component of their regular practice schedule.
Flexibility
Flexibility is probably the most neglected component of a fitness program. What the amateur golfer fails to realize is developing golf strength, endurance, or power is useless if they do not have the flexibility or balance capacities to execute the golf swing. Flexibility is a joints ability to move through a full range of motion smoothly and efficiently. Flexibility exercises, when combined with strength training, helps opposing muscle groups work in a more synergistic, coordinated fashion and are geared towards developing the flexibility within your body to execute the components of the golf swing correctly. For example, touching your toes is not as important and as being able to complete a full shoulder turn. Being flexible will improve your shoulder-turn, strengthen your lower back, and increase your club head speed. Every golfer has strength, nutrition, endurance AND flexibility issues that can be greatly improved.
Core
Core strength is essential for golf players. Core training can be a great benefit to your golf swing as a part of comprehensive golf fitness program and is an integral part of a comprehensive golf fitness program because this is the anatomical area of the body where the major of the golf swing occurs. Strengthen your middle and you'll strengthen your golf game.
How many times have you started a new golf season with very high scores, short drives, aches and pains? If you want to protect yourself from injury, boost your stamina, strength, energy level, and overall life quality, I highly suggest adopting a golf fitness program today.
